Sunset In Negril Tour - Firemon - 10-22-2014

There will be two different reggae concerts in two weeks (Wed Nov. 5) in the Twin Cities.

http://www.twincitiesreggae.com/upcoming-events/

The choice is between a moderately spendy ticket to see Cocoa Tea & Etana (the aforementioned Sunset In Negril Tour) or three bands I haven't heard of before for practically nothing. Okay, it's $7.00

So, I just sampled the unknown bands on youtube and I like them enough to contemplate passing on seeing Etana for the first time. (I saw Cocoa Tea just this past Februrary in Negril.)

Stranger is from San Diego and this is All Yours

Pasadena is from Maryland and this is Doing My Best

And TUGG is from nearby Wisconsin and this is So Good

(Now if they wanted to make the Sunset In Negril Tour even more authentic Etana wouldn't take the stage until close to 2 am followed by Cocoa Tea around 3 am.)

Ooh, and then Shaggy on Nov. 21. It wasn't me. Smile

Etana will also be at Cabooze in Mpls on Nov 4th.

Shucks, that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Sure sounded good. And I see it on her
tour schedule. But it's not on the Cabooze schedule nor do they have tickets available for sale.

Note also per Etana's schedule she'll be in St. Louis on Nov. 5 and not in Minneapolis. Info must be
out of date.

Here she is singing "Reggae."

REGGAE singer Cocoa Tea is gearing up for the release of his latest album Sunset In Negril on his Roaring Lion imprint.

The 12-track project will be released in time for his upcoming United States tour which kicks off

on October 22.

"It's a mixture of lovers' rock and social commentary," Cocoa Tea told the Jamaica Observer.

The set includes the title track as well as Darling, North Wind and cover of Bob Marley's classic War.

"The tour will encompass the US East and West coast, as I promote the album," he said.

After concluding his US tour on December 13, the singer will be heading to Nigeria and then Europe.

Sunset In Negril follows Cocoa Tea's 2012 album, In A Di Red.

The Clarendon-born singer, who started the annual New Year's Eve stage show Dancehall Jam Jam, said he has plans of resurrecting it.

"I had plans for Dancehall Jam Jam this year but because of the tour, I didn't have time. But next year definitely," he said.

Started in 2003, Dancehall Jam Jam was last held in 2009.

Now in his 50s, Cocoa Tea — whose given name is Calvin Scott — was born in Rocky Point, Clarendon. His large catalogue includes hits including Lost My Sonia, Rocking Dolly, Lonesome Side of Blue, and Tune In.

Might as well give Cocoa Tea's latest signature song a feature. It's pretty fabulous.

"Like no place in the world!" Yeah, this is a glorious find from a lyrics perspective if you're a Negrilaholic.
