Adobe flashplayer and Friday music - kylake - 07-16-2015 Just a heads up to the folks that go to the Friday music thread I post. There are some current problems (security hack) with a software called Adobe Flashplayer and because of that what I post and have posted in the past will most likely not work using Firefox unless you get a prompt at the top to allow (and then allow). If you don't get the prompt you will need to use another browser like IE or Chrome. I have tested in both IE and Chrome and the music will still play using those. Also for the video you do not have to login OT, simply go to the boards webpage. Firefox will not start allowing flash by default until the patches are put in place. RE: Adobe flashplayer and Friday music - oldtimer - 07-17-2015 "Also for the video you do not have to login OT, simply go to the boards webpage." I have no idea what that means . I know that when I press the round thing with the red line through it and then it says "allow " I can hear stuff . LUCKLY !!!! my daughters husband ( the IT guy ) is coming on the 26th so it will be " fixer all up " time . I was fooling around a couple of weeks ago and downloads came up ( ??? ) and there was about 25 adobe loads there . I guess when I try to load them they stick around . My problem is I have little interest this . I can use every bit of electronics known to man in the boat so I think I have the learning power but ..... RE: Adobe flashplayer and Friday music - CardBoardBox - 07-17-2015 SUBTITLE: COMPUTER / TECHNICAL My Firefox browser uses a "plug-in" (ie, added software program) to play Adobe "Flash" video files. The browser has options for each plug-in to allow it Always, Never, or to Ask. A recent version of Flash was determined to be too risky from a security standpoint and the Firefox people set Flash to the NEVER condition (calling it deactivated) until the user downloaded the newer version of Flash (after Adobe fixed the security flaw(s)). Tools-Addons-(Plugins-)-Check to see if addons are up to date Then you get the 'update' button to easily download the revisions. My guess is that if Flash is prevented from running, any 'auto update' or 'download revisions automatically' would NOT be invoked, so you have to do it manually. Side notes; Adobe download will include McFee program unless you unclick the box. I always unclick the box. I have Flash set to "always ask", which can be a slight pain, but it prevents Flash videos from automatically start playing when I visit a web page, including this site. The advantages are several. RE: Adobe flashplayer and Friday music - kylake - 07-17-2015 Good advise CBB but note when testing last night in FireFox I have the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer installed on the browser. Firefox by default is blocking until Adobe comes out with a patch for the last two security problems. http://techcrunch.com/2015/07/14/firefox-temporarily-blocks-adobe-flash-because-of-security-concerns/#.ghutvd:sVF8 There are work arounds like installing quicktime but OT does not do much techy stuff with a computer and I was trying to keep it simple. OT, what I mean is all you have to do is go to jamericans.net as the web address using any browser and without logging in you can still read and watch videos. There used to be a problem viewing pictures (if not logged in) and I have not tested to see if that is still in effect or not. RE: Adobe flashplayer and Friday music - CardBoardBox - 07-17-2015 I upgraded (downloaded) the latest version 2 days ago and have been fine ever since. Won't ask about your last nights testing other than IF you are on FF 39.0. Up to Date: 18.0.0.209 |
