Negril Supermarket violations - and nationalities - JonTom - 08-17-2018 Article on violations (and possibly corrections) at supermarket in Negril. I note that "the Chinese owner of the establishment" is unnamed. (not unusual to not be named, libel laws I suspect), but... these are other persons mentioned in the article: Bertel Moore - nationality = ? Government Minister Desmond McKenzie - nationality = ? Negril Chamber of Commerce President Daniel Grizzle - nationality = ? A director of the chamber, Sophia Grizzle Roumel - nationality = ? reporter - Anthony Lewis - nationality = ? Also - the photos are confusing. the middle looks to be Bertel Moore - mayor of Sav. the 1st and 3rd photo is of ??? one could substitute "ethnicity" for "nationality". http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/mayor-says-negril-supermarket-owner-addressing-issues_141454 RE: Negril Supermarket violations - and nationalities - CardBoardBox - 08-17-2018 I do not suspect "libel laws" for omitting the owner. Possible it would require research by the reporter (oh how often news comes from press releases, exclusively, but not this time), or it would not add a desired detail to the story, or it might expose many markets are owned by a consortium, maybe not even in Jamaica, or some government body/front. I could get on my soapbox again about the no GCT, the 5 year no-income-tax, the unlicensed money exchange activity, all without knowing if any of it is true. The next time I'm in town (oh, next month) I'm going to investigate the tooth brushes they sell. |
