small trip report from someon "Jamaica - where you can find a husband in a week" - Sharleen - 03-20-2019 This story made me laugh, so I'm sharing it on here. I like the writers style -- I also had a laugh about her wanting $6 a month for the privilege of reading some of the other stories linked in here. The one about her car rental was pretty funny too - https://jamaicamyway.substack.com/p/jamaica-where-you-can-find-a-husband?fbclid=IwAR0Crd0peFhATMNLqJVL5S4tOM2OfODK6WgbZ-BLo0w_kFdzgiDV0dLq2V4 RE: small trip report from someon "Jamaica - where you can find a husband in a we... - CardBoardBox - 03-20-2019 The writing style was good, so thanks for sharing. The car story was not entertaining to me because it hit too close to home. (friends car, who insisted on driving me to the airport. One friendship which eventually degraded to acquaintance due to several events.) And back to the first, lead in story, or the joke "anything for a green card dot com" when I've seen white lady at MBJ saying goodbye to local, all kissy face, I've supressed the urge to privately tell her "watch out for the phone calls." But it has been many years since people have posted those "whats the quickest way to send money to Jamacia?" questions with explainations of "house burned down, granny died, have to pay car insurance, etc." The main page of the User has interesting text. Site is not entirely jamaicamyway stuff. https://jamaicamyway.substack.com/ Definately something to seek out when I have the time. Enuf stories for his/her own newsletter collection? Hummmmmm RE: small trip report from someon "Jamaica - where you can find a husband in a we... - Westenders - 03-21-2019 Lots of stereptyping in this thread The author was quick to judge and yet still begged something from this woman Online dating is everywhere , plenty of my friends do it, wouldn’t be for me but it works for some My colleague sat next to me now met her hub 10 years ago and now have 3 beaut kids Black women are also travelling to Jamaica for relationships Without knowing the ins and outs of someone’s situation, you can’t judge Experienced some of this stereotyping myself from tourists when there. Pisses me off Many women and men on this forum go to Jamaica alone, assumptions and judgements could be made on that Who cares is my motto. Live and let live and focus on your own relationship... if you have one RE: small trip report from someon "Jamaica - where you can find a husband in a we... - CardBoardBox - 03-21-2019 Sharleen, I revisited the page for a re-read and found a link to another story therein. https://jamaicamyway.substack.com/p/what-is-it-about-negril?utm_source=substack&utm_content=topposts Same style, naturally, and the author talks a little bit about changes in Negril locals. I use the term locals loosly because some commute in daily. I found the user comments as enlightening, or as entertaining, as the posting itself. But also there is the explaination of what you got the laugh about, the $6 privledge. The post mentions the 'free ride' for selected/occasional stories but the main page of the site itself explains it is a site where people can generate income. Get 100,000 subscribers and earn a gazillion dollars (humor.) Which brings me to Tammy. I never really noticed the total lack of advertising here. *** Let me buy you another beer next time. *** happy news site is loaded and ads surely are an auxillary source of income ADDENDUM The author of the newsletter/blog has captivated me with her style. She (?) mentioned she used to have this site, which still gets hits, and I found it too was entertaining. The humor of including the IKEA video caused an LOL and reminded me of when I used to write trip reports, seeking to include the lighter side of the social intercourse in a place we see different things, or things differently. http://www.jamaicamyway.com/uncategorized/start-the-car/ |
