Urban sprawl come to Ketto - shipmaster - 04-27-2019 Ketto is a village on the Sheffield to Spring Garden Road. It was a post office and a shop when I got there. Fast forward 40 years. There's at least a dozen returning residents who went foreign and came home to build beautiful homes on the hills behind Ketto. Someone is building a 3 story 15 unit apartment building right next to the road which btw is as bad as bad can be. It's 12Km to Negril and will be bedroom for Negril workers Ketto is spelled CATO on the maps BTW I remember what didn't used to be there Cap RE: Urban sprawl come to Ketto - oldtimer - 04-28-2019 They have to live somewhere. My place is worth more every year as a side benefit Cap RE: Urban sprawl come to Ketto - Firemon - 05-01-2019 I recall distinctly the feeling that overwhelmed me the first time I visited Sheffield.  Suddenly I had regained my invisibility.  There was a palpable sensation of normality.  No more buy-me-a-beer beggings, higglers demanding respect, or sexual advances.  Not being in Negril was nice.  Your spot up in the hills is enviable.  RE: Urban sprawl come to Ketto - Aquavit - 05-01-2019 You need to spend more time Deep West End! And yes, the area where Cap lives is lovely, we've rolled around those parts quite a bit. RE: Urban sprawl come to Ketto - Firemon - 05-28-2019 From my experience the "deep" West End is a boring, dangerous, pitiful squalor, and not where I want to be on vacation.  Not even for five minutes.  Captain's porch overlooking the countryside, however, is an enviable vacation retreat.  Day after day after day.
