Monarch butterfly's use to be very scarce here for many years BUT !!! this year there seem to be lots ??? Beside my front deck I have lots of weeds and flowers mixed up to draw butterflys etc . and for the last 2 weeks I have a Monarch that sleeps in a bush beside the deck . I know you guys are from all over and would just like to know if they are on a come back or not . It's hard to believe that they can fly all the way to Mexico and back . That's about 7,000 miles there and back . Please reply to this if you see many in your area . Thank you/merci

We see them here (Nebraska) on a regular basis. I have planted extensive butterfly attracting plants including common Milk week in my flower beds...all to attract the honey bees and the butterflies. My favorites are the monarch, yellow swallowtail and black swallowtail. My garden also attracts huge and colorful dragonflies.

We have only noticed two monarchs so far this year, used to be tons of them when I was a kid. We plant lots of things for the birds and butterflies also.
