Tornadoes - Firemon - 12-12-2021 Hoping Kylake and Mrs. Kylake are safe and sound after the windy wickedness. Read where one of them beasts left a trail of destruction 250 miles long. RE: Tornadoes - Firemon - 12-12-2021 I just compared this news story about the Kentucky/Tennessee storms with my secret address book and feel confident Kylake's homestead wasn't in the storm's path. Not to mention he's no doubt lounging in his Negril palace with a morning fruit plate of a tangerine, banana, and coconut followed by ackee and salt fish washed down with a couple cups of strong Blue Mountain coffee. RE: Tornadoes - Firemon - 12-12-2021 By my calculations the Kylake estate is approximately 80 miles from the Mayfield candle factory and was hopefully out of harm's way being to the southeast. RE: Tornadoes - kylake - 12-13-2021 Thanks for checking and I have been slacking on checking in here. You are correct Firemon. Mayfield, KY is about 70 mile away by road to the north and some west of us. We feel so sorry for all the folks that live there and have lost life, home, family, friends and businesses. The media tends to focus on the worst location and really not report on all the other locations. Just to the north of us in Stewart county (18 miles north) an EF2 landed that was 400 yards wide and traveled on the ground for 18 miles. Kingston Springs to our southeast had an EF2 also. We were actually in the basement at midnight (way past our bedtime) watching the weather on TV and expecting the worst but fortunate for us (not for others) the storm split at the river and went to the north and south of us. All the threats to our area were not over till about 2:30 to 3:00 am when we tried (unsuccessfully) to go back to bed and sleep. Since we could not sleep we made coffee and cinnamon rolls and watched as more information came in about locations to our east and counted our blessings.  RE: Tornadoes - Firemon - 12-13-2021 Too close for comfort.
