Much like the situation with NS and the middlemen who control pricing, this story is of beef and the destroying of cattle raising in the USA.
Prices have risen yet the cattlemen are getting less, even losing money because the meat packers decide what they want to pay.

While ranchers have been tallying losses, JBS has been celebrating gains — revenues of $18 billion between July and September, which represented an increase of 32 percent compared with the same quarter in 2020.
