It is music of black origin, not black music, and it is what it says on the tin.

So with the MOBO s the awards are to celebrate black artists and professionals in the music world and music genres that have developed from reggae, folk, r&b , jazz, blues etc...
Huge in the UK is the grime and baseline scene which is urban music sang by artists of all races and nationalities.

Nominees this year include Sam Smith, who is not black, but his soulful, jazzy based songs are relative to music of black origin, as was Amy Whinehouse and singers like Adele and Jessy J, all of whom I think have had huge success over in the US,
Look out for Sam Smith, he is a brilliant new artist.

Hip hop, drum and base, jazz, reggae, dancehall, r&ab, dance , grime, rap, baseline and pop are all celebrated and all recognised as music of black origins, artist, or heritage wise.

the MOBOs always take place in October and is part of the nationally recognised and celebrated black history month in the UK. Black History month is not just for black people either, it is for everyone from all nationalities to recognise the importance of and historical significance of the contribution to the UK made by black people, as well as celebrating our communities today.

Personally glad to see other artists nominated in the reggae, dancehall category other than Sean Paul. dancehall is also huge here, and Sean Paul is not so popular on that scene, more mainstream so that's why he gets the awards so much.
I'm hoping Chronixx or Popcaan win. No way will alkaline win with his raw lyrics.
