Unconfirmed reports are that a woman of Chinese descent was also abducted by the gunmen who were said to be on a robbery spree in the parish capital.

It is reported that minutes after 9 a.m., two vehicles carrying several gunmen were seen at a supermarket in Guinep Tree along Main Street, May Pen.
The robbers were surprised by the police, and opened fire at them. http://jamaica-star.com/article/news/20190527/policemen-shot-while-attempting-foil-robbery While there is now calm in the area, some residents believe that the Government needs to declare a state of emergency in May Pen. "We really need a state of emergency because this can't continue. Soon school haffi go lock down because taxi man refuse fi come inna the town. Businesses a go mash up. They need to put a stop to this," one resident said. Yesterday's shooting follows the death of a tailor, 26-year-old Sean Cunningham, who was shot last Friday at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Main Street, May Pen. Cunningham died while being treated at hospital. A woman, who was shot in the same incident, was treated and released.

I heeded the advice of reading (many of) the comments on the youtube site, just as I sometimes suggest.
Of the several videos, the comments run the full gambit of good English to "WTF did he want to say", from blame to pleas, from solutions to hopelessness, from a mention of one head guy being unqualified (see below) to a viewpoint condeming China via "...to carry down Jamaica. and left them in poverty , as what they did to Haiti and Africa.. Lord have mercy im sorry for jamaicas." The last quote is a hidden reply to a Paul Gordon. (I don't follow Haiti news but was surprised a 2nd commentor wrote elsewhere "Welcome to Haiti # 2") "who approved these shipments of gun into the country?" appeared as a serious question. I hope and expect this Robbery thread will be read. My slant is it's about money. Not who has it and who wants it, but how can enough be gathered and spent wisely. (the above reference, (and not the only person mentioned elsewhere) a quote) I know dr. Horace Chung personally how did he become Minister of security have no idea this guy know nothing about policing he never been a cop before I remember he was a MP in Hanover in the 80's Jamaica is so corrupt how could they put this guy in such a high position this dude can't even secure his owned backyard much less a country. In fairness, maybe a dept head only needs to be good at manageing people, yet one needs good people under him too

Too many guns and to easy to obtain just like here in the US. Used to be a fist fight or knife fight now it is a gun. The latter takes no training to be deadly.
