Beautiful travel log !!! I love your " adventures ". Back in the day those guys use to drag those rafts BACK UP THE RIVER !!!!! they were in great shape . Also the " bad guys " use to dynamite the river to poach fish . I have gone down the river about 10 times , the 1st being in 1967 and the last being maybe 10 years ago and there was a huge water shortage then . In the 60's and 70's and 80's the water was a torrant (sp) then . Thanks for the memories !!!

Most excellent reporting Liz. Thanks so much for taking the time and making the effort! Looks like something we might try someday and just like you I always thought to touristy and of course it is but also unique and totally Jamaican.

Thank you OT and kylake!
In the 3 days we were there we never saw the rafts go back up the river, so they must do it some way other than dragging them in the water. kylake, being able to swim was key for me, and as usual, being on a river offers a view of Jamaica that is simply different from what can be seen on land. We were able to do it for $60, total - if you call the tour company and get the ride up and all it's more like $150, which seems not quite as worth it to me. I've got another day or so to report on then will wrap it up

I agree, $150.00 would be too expensive to make it worthwhile.

Thank you , thank you , thank you !!!!!!!! This was soooooooo !!!!! much fun . Can you imagine Errol Flynn and those guys crusin' down the river . Back in the day it was the east end of Jamaica that had all the action . There are 6 major tuna fishing tourny's in the world and Port Antonio has 2 and one Marlin tourny . The roads east and Negril are what changed the scenery for tourism . Treasure Beach is still very hard to beat .

Gosh thank you OT! I love pOrty too and it's really been too long since I've been out that way. I have a trip to JA next spring for a wedding (in Negril), a villa thing with a group in TB...may try to fit the east coast in, now that Knutsford goes there that makes it so much cheaper to get out there.
But i think TB really has my heart. (09-20-2017, 03:21 PM)Oldtimer2 Wrote: Thank you , thank you , thank you !!!!!!!! This was soooooooo !!!!! much fun .
