No police tomorrow (Saturday). Island-wide wage strike.
--------------------------------------------
The U.S. Embassy Kingston informs U.S. citizens that it has received reports that due to the failure of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) labor federation and the Government of Jamaica to come to a wage agreement, there is a planned “sick out” of rank and file officers for tomorrow, December 23rd. The previous “sick out” last week resulted in a shortage of 1200 officers island-wide. The Embassy urges you to exercise caution this weekend while visiting shopping areas throughout Kingston, which will be exceptionally crowded and possibly without the appropriate level of police presence. If possible, conduct your shopping needs during daylight hours, and use enhanced awareness if engaging in “Nightmarket” activities on December 24th.
