It's not only the US it's Canada as well. If you sign up for a sponsership you are on the hook for 10 years . There were a lot of Jamaican that came to Nova Scotia to work on farms and orchards . To come now they need a bank account and at least 1/3 the money is on hold until baby mothers are paid . Where we had 1000's we now have 100's. Some have been coming for 20-30 years and are the very best . About 3 years ago MacLean's magazine ( Canada's Time magazine ) said that 46% of the Jamaicans in Canada are on welfare .
