An hour long video saying more news will come Monday, that curfew will shorten hours more (and comments which dispute the smartness of that action) since the coronavirus is not over yet.
Can't fault someone for trying the best they can and at lease the video renews the personal responsibility necesary to make things better. Any vehicle which gets the word out is a plus. Radio and word of mouth on the street too. Store policy for masks in PA is strong, but out on the street, not so much. What's it like on the island? addendum; at 19 minutes there is double audio and the video starts over. At around 36 minutes the chart shows Westmoreland had 35 cases to date. What isn't mentioned, if USA news is true, existance of people with no symptoms who can spread C-19. Like the flu, but not the flu, the human body is amazing at fighting infections.
Pinned to post with the comments is a response by the JIS of the technical difficulties they were aware needed correction. See right bottom column along side the video. Not sure what number 35 you refer to, I believe that might be deaths claimed. What I get from it and first hand conversations is that their numbers are climbing, tracing is becoming overwhelming I think, no longer possible. Every parish is now effected and the curfews have been recently, and are being implemented and or increased. Not heading in the right direction anymore. The islanders I speak with think that the borders may be shut down again in the future. I leave the determination of what he has said, etc., up to the individual listener. One thing I have learned is that though several people see and hear the exact same thing, their take on that will vary, at times considerably.
As far as the locals and their handling and thoughts on the covid, that too varies considerably. Not judging here but my experience is that the poorer, with less accessibility to means of official information, lack of education, etc, they tend to not fully understand the facts, especially when their only source of information is the coconut telegraph. I personally have had to read or reiterate correct information to them. Hell, one particular person told me last month that a tourist that did not remain in the corridor (and a US one at that) had told them they didn't need to worry because they had their covid vaccination before they got there. Bottom line that tourist was believed...I say shame on them. That is definitely a selfish, entitled, totally ignorant attitude. Those that I speak with that were blessed with the ability to be educated think differently and keep up on the true facts, ergo I am aware of the JIS site. You might want to read some of the comments, it gives an idea on the varying perspectives. Better yet go directly to the site and keep up. I only posted this for those that want to know what is really going on, in real time and reality. Again, I am not here to judge, debate, or push for any particular perspective on the situation. That is for each individual to determine. I have provided a tool for anyone that cares to utilize it. “I'm thankful we have reggae. I have so much pain in my heart , my mind is corrupt. But when I turn to reggae music, I am at peace . Jah will guide me forever.” ...oh, but then there is the blues!

At 39:09 the lady has a chart. It shows "Confirmed cases by parish" and for Westmoreland, new cases 1, total 35.
That's "my 35". Posting the link was positive. If you hadn't, me and others would be less informed. I just wanted to add some info so I did. . Yes the JIS pinned a comment "22:17 Good day. We sincerely apologize for the audio issue just now. It was as a result of a duplicated feed. Thank you for your patience while we resolved the issue" but it does not indicate they started the feed over again at approx the 19 minute mark (cause it was live at the time?) "You might want to read some of the comments," JAMaMa, I had read every comment possible, so I agree with you, but technical issues prevented all 385 comments to be read. BTW, that count now is over 400. Thanks for the details of how the local population is reacting to the virus. Go to the (JIS) site directly? A valid suggestion and option, but no, not today.

Thumbs up. ?? my caricatures do not post as such...smiley faces turn into question marks once posted, and now, apparently the thumbs up symbol turns into a box of sort?! Lol.
Bottom line its good to know that this is useful for someone and that there is some participation in this forum other than only two or three people. The number of views show there is clearly many more voices out there with potential good information or energies to share, interact positively, lively up themselves. Yet without those same few people nothing but “crickets” for a very, very long time. Crickets...did I say crickets...this sound is much sweeter... “I'm thankful we have reggae. I have so much pain in my heart , my mind is corrupt. But when I turn to reggae music, I am at peace . Jah will guide me forever.” ...oh, but then there is the blues! |
