I wanted to swim and snorkle this trip.
Did not do either.
Only a few, maybe 3 out of 10 days did I see a boat on the beach.
Well, i saw boats, but they were few and far between.
I did not feel like fighting wave after wave just to feel the water.
I like to soak in the water.
Play in the water with a friend.
Swim under the water and play catch with the cool little fish that are close to the shore.
Maybe feed them green peas or a little cookie.
This past trip, I did none of that.
Every morning, I head out for coffee and b-fast.
Wave after wave, hitting the beach.
Dangit!
I saw a few folks, body surfing and jumping up when the big waves would hit them.
It was pretty windy the entire time.
Oh well, you must take the good with the not so good.
I wrote before
"will I get out the water and reach for my towel, Shivering"
Someone said, nah, it will be fine.
But is was not fine.
Good thing it was Jamaica, which provides many other things to do besides swimming.
I saw one guy, he was wind surfing.
A big oblong parachute type thing.
He was holding on with a small surf board on his feet.
He was moving right along the water, zipping across the waves at a nice clip.
Back and forth, to the left and right, In and out.
When a nice size wave would come, he would "hop" up in the air and the parachute would hold him aloft for about 5 seconds.
Pretty cool.
I watched him for about 15 minutes, then the chute got twisted and it fell into the sea,
Still twisted.
The guy just sat in the water.
His pal came running along the beach and had to swim out to where the chute was floating in the water.
I am thinking that the guy surfing could not go get it.
He kept about 30 yards away from the tangled chute.
Hmmm, maybe if he tried to untangle the chute, he would get trapped in all the lines. I don't know.
The 2 of them eventually swam ashore, looking really tired and worn out.
