Wondering if anyone on here has knowledge/experience on just how the JA court system works, as far as delays. Usually I see trial delays in terms of the defendant decrying the length of time it takes to get a verdict (and from victims with a "justice delayed is justice denied" point of view). Most of those complain of the lengthy delays in getting a trial date, or getting a jury (if needed), etc.
In this case, it appears the DEFENDANT'S LAWYER, is the one causing delay, by having another trial booked on the same date. The article (which is really in the news b/c the trial is for Tommy Lee Sparta) states the judge "was not amused" and deems this "unsatisfactory" (and also that this has happened before).
But what actually happens to the lawyer? Are there any repercussions?
Unrelated question, the article states: "... documents related to an international sweepstakes and other FBI-type documents".
What exactly are "FBI-type documents"?
