The simple but eligant photo is by Yvonne.
Did the word "coils" pop into your brain when you saw it? Do you know what it is used for? Have you ever spent five minutes trying to separate two of them without ending up breaking one, knowing it has to be contactless with a surface in order to function?
Some call it a Destroyer, and the name probably works at the (super)market, but I'm going to guess it is a brand name.
We "foreign" (tourists) use names/words we learn at home or on vacation. I've written of the girl who wanted nylon covered clothes line from the hardware store without knowing the clerk needed the word "curtain rod" to identify the item requested. (Credit: Annabel)
Are there other words you can think of unique to Jamaica? Sure. Are there interchangable words at home which make sense if you lived at home? Soda vs pop, Frigidare vs refrigerator, tin foil vs aluminum foil. So how come there are tin cans? That has an answer but, as always, I'm going "off topic."
