I'm here. I check in daily and have wondered the same. I guess everyone is busy doing summer things.
We are going to our county fair tonight. That's always fun. My little brother is showing his rabbits, horse and geese.
We are waiting on February to get here. We are going back to Montserrat and Antigua. Our friends that went to Jamaica with us a few times are coming along with us. It will be a great time.
What's everyone else up to? Vacations planned? Summer trips?
My son might be getting married in Jamaica this winter ??? probably on the south shore . I had lunch with the "bride to be " yesterday , she's just like a fifth daughter already .
The night I got home from California I found out that we have to move. They sold our rental. They had told us that investors bought it and that we can stay - but, that seemed to be a story to pacify us as the new owners want to move in.
I have been running around looking at rental houses and I think we have found one.
We can legally stay until our lease runs out but we would rather get the move behind us before the rainy season and the holidays. We spent the last holiday season moving.
So I am afraid that is what is keeping us away from this board - too much to do right now!
This is turning into a nice thread - I like a good "check in" thread - it is nice to know what everyone is up too!
Congrats on the engagement OT - Jeannie - I am very excited for you - it sounds like another great trip!
I've been insanely busy since returning from Negril in mid July. Computer time is minimal, even rare many days. As a director on my condo association board I was busy before (parking lot mapping) & after (the actual work) my trip w/ a huge improvement project... paving the entire community. I was out hours every day after my return making sure cars were moved, parking spots labeled correctly (over 300), etc. LOTS of work on top of the usual board business. As treasurer, I'll soon be starting to work on the 2014 budget.
On top of that, I also have been doing renovations in my condo. First you have to wipe out the image of a condo being basically an apartment in a high rise building. Not mine. We're a community of 40 buildings w/ 4 units per building, each w/ 1/4 of the building, an upstairs & downstairs. It's like a 1500 sq. ft. 2 story house attached to 3 others. Large, private (fenced in) patios outside each unit. Anyway... I started w/ having my popcorn ceilings removed. What a mess. 2 days of my house being bubble wrapped & me being exiled followed by cleaning for 6 hours a day the rest of the week. I took a brief breather & then moved on to the next project. That was a week plus followed by much needed carpet cleaning. I had crown moulding added throughout the house, new stairway railings installed (good bye to the 2x2, 2x4 builder grade, oversized & out of code railings... now have double twist iron w. open basket accents), & accent wall painting. That was followed by entire paint touch up throughout the entire house. Yesterday was emptying my inside storage closet so the technician could get to my hot water heater for its annual check up... major production. Between the end of the renos & yesterday I've been going through every pantry, cabinet, drawer, etc. in the house cleaning & organizing, gathering donation items, etc. Just reviewing what I've been doing is exhausting. In between I've tried to keep up w/ my regular work out schedule & social life. Believe me, when I've had time I've grabbed it & relaxed on my patio reading the paper & catching some rays. Now I'm getting ready for a house re-warming party next weekend to show off my new look & hopefully drum up some work for my contractor, a former neighbor here. That's where I've been. BTW... the place looks awesome!!!
